How To Enjoy A 30-Day Staycation in Toronto

March 7, 2023

Toronto is a busy and varied city that gives visitors a wide range of things to do and see.

There’s something for everyone in Toronto, whether they like art, food, history, or the outdoors. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your time in the city if you plan to stay there for 30 or more days.

First and foremost, you need to choose where to stay. We would suggest a DelSuites condo rental, giving you all the amenities of a luxury condo building but the flexibility to stay as long as you need to after the 30-day period.

After you are settled at your new condo rental conveniently located in the city, it’s time to explore what the city has to offer.

Here is How you can Enjoy 30-Days in Toronto

Try New Food Spots

The food scene is one of the best things about Toronto. People from all over the world live in the city, so there are many different kinds of food to try. There’s something for everyone, from street vendors who sell traditional Canadian poutine to high-end restaurants that serve modern, delicious food. New to the city? Head to St. Lawrence Market for some smoked meat sandwiches, butter tarts, and peameal bacon are some dishes you must try. Take a food tour to try different dishes and learn about the city’s food history for a more unique experience.

Attend New Exhibits at Toronto’s Museums

Going to one of Toronto’s many museums or art galleries is another popular thing to do there. The Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art are all located conveniently in the city. These places have a lot of different kinds of art and artifacts, including works by Canadian and international artists. You can also see modern art, photography, and design in a number of smaller galleries and specific exhibition spaces.

Get Out To Green Spaces

If you want to do something more active, Toronto has a lot of parks and green spaces for you to explore. The Rouge National Urban Park, which is in the city, is the largest urban park in North America. It has places to hike, camp, and watch birds. High Park, which has a zoo, an outdoor swimming pool, and a playground, is another popular park. Trinity Bellwoods Park is a popular place for picnics, outdoor concerts and plenty of trees to relax under for an afternoon.

Learn About The History

Toronto has a lot of historic sites and buildings for people who are interested in history and architecture. The Fort York National Historic Site is the oldest building in the city. It used to be a military fort and was built in the late 18th century. There are also several Victorian-era houses in the city, like the Spadina House, which is open to the public and can be toured.

Explore The Culture

You can also learn a lot about Canadian culture in Toronto. The city also has many festivals and events all year long, such as the Toronto International Film Festival, the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, and the Toronto Jazz Festival, that you can enjoy.

Shopping, Shopping, Shopping

Lastly, if you want a more laid-back trip, Toronto has a lot of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. There are many shopping areas in the city, like Queen Street West, Kensington Market and the shops along Ossington Avenue, which are known for their vintage clothing stores and small, independent shops. The Eaton Centre, which is a big shopping mall, and the Distillery District, which is an old neighbourhood with shops, restaurants, and galleries, are also popular places to shop.

Stay Close To All That Toronto Has To Offer

In the end, Toronto is a city where everyone can find something they like. No matter if you’re interested in art, culture, food, or nature, there are many things to see and do. With a month in the city, you’ll have plenty of time to see everything, so take your time and enjoy the city.

Business Travel: Top Trends To Watch For In 2023

February 24, 2023
Business Travel, Top Trends for 2023

The world of business travel is one that is continuously changing as we see new patterns emerge in how people travel for work. These trends are influencing the way in which businesses and their employees think about and approach business travel to and from Canada. These trends include the growing importance of traveling in a way that is good for the environment, the focus on keeping an eye on costs, and the desire to have more control over the booking process and provide a more well-rounded experience that combats employee fatigue.

The Top Trends In Business Travel To Watch For In 2023

The Decisions Surrounding Remote Calls Versus In-Person Meetings

Companies are having more and more discussions about whether or not employees need to go on short-term trips and whether or not online meetings can replace in-person assignments. More people are realizing how important it is to travel which is good for the environment. This is a big reason why travellers are taking fewer business trips, or if they do travel, they may incorporate some vacation travel and extend their stay. However, there is a case to be made for employees who want to be less online and more social, so in-person meetings could have a more positive impact in 2023.

Travel Costs Will Be More Closely Monitored

We expect that restrictions will still be put on “discretionary” and short-term business travel, which has not yet returned to its pre-pandemic level. Even though there was more international travel in 2022, we can see that business travel and the costs surrounding trips would be more closely monitored. You can see this in more recent cuts from large tech companies in Silicon Valley as more companies tighten up their budgets going into the new year.

Making Reservations Will Be Easier Than Ever Before

Business travellers are extremely reliant on technology and have high expectations of the companies that facilitate their trips, including travel brokers and accommodation providers. Business travellers frequently voice a desire for increased influence over the booking process, and consumers are becoming more interested in self-booking alternatives. We will see more leniency in terms of booking and travel arrangements with more personal options in mind.

Combining Business and Leisure Travel

The trend toward combining business and leisure travel is still an important factor. With remote work causing longer and more on-demand work schedules, it is becoming increasingly common for travellers to bring their families along with them on their trips. Putting together a trip that includes both business travel and vacation travel can help cut down on travel costs overall.

Higher Expectations From Business Travellers

Corporate travelers have higher expectations for their trips. Organizations frequently conduct in-depth research prior to booking and even look to receive travel reward points. They want to be able to plan, book and pay for their travel experience within the parameters of the policy, but they also want more control and options, so they want to combine self-service “extras” with the experience.

Takeaways From These Business Travel Trends

As we navigate 2023, it’s clear that business travel is changing, so it’s important to stay up-to-date and adapt. As a business traveller, it’s important to know the industry’s trends and changes so you can make efficient, eco-friendly decisions about your travel plans.

With DelSuites, we adapt to the travel plans of every business traveller that stays with us. Our 30-day plus furnished condo rentals all over the Greater Toronto Area, allow us to provide that flexibility as trends change.

How To Make A Furnished Short-Term Condo Rental Feel Like Home

February 13, 2023

There are many good things about renting a short-term that is already set up. These types of rentals are great for people who are travelling for business, going on vacation, or even in-between moves. But making a short-term feel like home is one of the hardest things about living there. Even though you may only be there for a few months, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t feel comfortable and at ease in your temporary home.

Personalizing your space is the first step to making it feel like home. This can be done in a number of ways, such as by adding a few of your own personal items or even having photos of you and your family in frames on end tables.

Bring Small Personal Belongings With You

Adding some of your favourite amenities is another way to make a short-term furnished apartment feel like home. If you like to cook, for example, you might want to bring your own kitchen tools and cookware. If you like coffee, bring your own bags of your favourite beans. Bring your own teapot and a few boxes of tea if you like to drink tea.

Make It Feel Cozy

Comfort is another way to make a short-term furnished apartment feel like home. This means making a space that is good for relaxing, like a cozy reading nook, a comfortable chair, or even just turning down the lights. You can also make the space feel more private by putting up room dividers.

Unpack Fully And Put The Suitcase Away

Unpacking your suitcase and storing it away, as well as organizing the space, is another important thing you can do to make a short-term furnished apartment feel like home. This can be done with things like shelves, drawers, and even storage under the bed. You can also keep your things in order with tools like hanging organizers and shoe racks.

Your Home Away From Home

Tourists and renters in Toronto are becoming more and more interested in short-term apartments that are already set up. This is because they are a more convenient way to stay than a regular hotel. Also, people who rent them have more privacy and freedom than people who stay in traditional hotel rooms. This can be a great option for people moving to Toronto or coming for a short business trip. It can also be a great choice for people on vacation who want a place that feels like home.

Start Your Search For A Short-Term Rental in Toronto Today

There are many options when it comes to finding a short-term furnished apartment in Toronto. You can find places to rent in many places, like downtown, along the water, or even in the suburbs. You can also find rentals with different price ranges.

In the end, short-term furnished apartments are a good choice, but it can be hard to make them feel at home. But with a few easy steps, you can give it your own style. If you have the right idea, you can make the most of your short time in Toronto and enjoy it.

10 Ways to Optimize Your Work From Home Space and Schedule

February 6, 2023
work from home space

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, millions of people around the world are working from home for the first time. Whether you’re working from home part or full-time, there are a few important things you can do to optimize your work from home space and the time dedicated to working.

Bear in mind that these tips are dependent on your personal space and budget. Use what you can and ignore what’s not relevant.

That said, here are the 10 ways to optimize your work-from-home space and schedule:

1. Create a Designated Work Space

One of the most important steps to take, but also one most dependent on your available space, is to have a designated space just for work. This space can really be anywhere in your home, in any room, in whatever corner. But this spot should be used only for working from home. This way, your mind and body know when you are at “work” and when you are at home.

The physical and mental division between work and home will benefit your motivation and mental health greatly. If you are renting through DelSuites, it’s good to check beforehand if there is a desk/chair for working from home.

2. Be Near a Window

If possible, having your desk near a window has numerous benefits. You’ll be receiving Vitamin D from the sunlight, avoiding the possibility of seasonal depression. Also, the sights and sounds outside the window provide good background noise and just the right amount of distraction when brainstorming or zoning out in thought. Natural sunlight will help as a secondary light source as well.

3. Have Multiple Light Sources

Speaking of a secondary light source, it is great to have multiple light sources around your workspace. Ceiling lights can be too dim or too fluorescent and could be casting shadows on your desk. All of this leads to headaches and strain on your eyes. Having a desk lamp, especially if you’re writing, and being near a window will illuminate your desk. This should lessen the chances of getting headaches from poor lighting and straining eyes.

4. Invest in a Comfortable Chair

Spending the money on an actual office chair will do wonders on your back. Being able to adjust the height of the chair will make sure your feet are comfortably on the ground while your arms are the correct height for typing and writing. The armrests will help support your arms as you work to remove the strain on your shoulders. And the support on your back will keep your back in good shape. Your chair doesn’t have to be an office chair though. Just make sure any chair you use is comfortable, at the correct height, and preferably has armrests.

5. Eliminate Clutter

To keep your mind clear and able to focus on work, a workspace without clutter is best. Unnecessary papers, cords, or other knick-knacks will just distract you and get in your way. Have what you need quickly accessible but if there’s anything around you that you don’t use often (or at all), put it away in a designated storage space. For those things that you do use every once in a while, a cabinet or drawers around your desk can provide easy storage and accessibility.

6. Greenery

Even though clutter is bad, there are benefits to having greenery and appealing decor nearby. Easy to care for greenery adds colour and oxygen to your workspace. Humans benefit from being near nature of any type, and studies have even shown that plants in a home can stimulate creativity. If you aren’t near a window, choosing a low-light plant or a succulent will help. For those of us with busy schedules, the less maintenance required from the plant, the better.

7. Use Green and Blue Decor

Other forms of decor can be helpful if they aren’t on your desk and are of the right colour. Interior designers prefer to use greens and blues while decorating to create an atmosphere that is refreshing, motivating, and even nurturing.

8. Set a Schedule

As much as possible, create a daily routine of work time, break time, and after-work time. Also, if you have a flexible schedule, set your work time at your most productive hours. There’s no reason to wake up very early if you’re just not a morning person. Having this schedule creates boundaries in your life, letting your body and mind know when to focus and be productive and when to relax and forget about work.

9. Leave Your Workspace for Breaks

When you do take your scheduled breaks, step away from your desk and your computer. Doing this will keep the physical and mental boundaries you have created between work life and home life. This will also reduce screen time if you’re looking at a computer during your whole workday. Go to another room and really take that break that you deserve.

10.  Dress for Success

This might be the most controversial suggestion so far but this can have a big impact on your productivity. Do not stay in your pyjamas when you begin working. You will physically and mentally want to continue snuggling down in bed and will not want to work. Now, it isn’t necessary to put on full office attire but changing into actual clothes before beginning to work lets you know your day has started. And you’ll always be ready for an unexpected video meeting!

What Business Travellers Desire The Most When Relocating To Toronto (with stats from GBTA)

November 25, 2022

DelSuites has provided temporary furnished apartments for business travellers in Toronto for years, and we have noticed a pattern among our customers in recent years regarding what they desire from their relocation or travel programs with their companies.

Companies are realizing that their travel and relocation programs must now ensure travel safety, be more flexible to change and arrangements based on flight changes and cancellations, and the health of the employee as well. They have to be prepared for different outcomes all while limiting the amount of cost of the overall program.

On the other hand, their business traveller wishes for convenience, leisure, and personal time to provide their best work. According to the GBTA, business travellers have specific desires for how they want to travel now.

Here are the top 5 desires for business travellers

Booking With Their Favourite Travel Suppliers And Vendors

As business travellers, after a while, they tend to pick favourites when it comes to their stay, transportation means, meals and accommodations. According to GBTA, 46% of business travellers would love to be able to choose their own travel suppliers. This could bring more consistency in performance, fewer issues during their stay, more reward points and more overall cost, depending on the suppliers they choose. DelSuites is a favourite supplier amongst travel programs for its consistency, expectations and availability in some of the most convenient locations in Toronto.

Staying An Additional Night After Their Meetings

Business travellers facing timezone changes, long commutes, and even longer meetings, can experience heavy fatigue during a business trip, especially if they are flying into Toronto from quite a long distance away. According to the GBTA, 43% of business travellers would love to decompress after their time in Toronto after their meetings and fly out the next day. This could result in more cost for the travel program, but less fatigue and better morale for the business traveller.

Booking Outside A Corporate Travel System

Some pre-existing booking systems or relationships that many organizations have to limit the choices for business travellers to choose their accommodations. Instead of enjoying something like a fully furnished DelSuite that’s conveniently located where they need to be, they might be forced to book outside of the city in a hotel with minimal amenities, if any. That’s why, according to the GBTA, 39% of business travellers are looking to book their travel on their own terms instead of using a strict travel program booking system.

Building Leisure Into Their Business Travels

If you hear from business travellers, the trip sometimes is more focused on business than the travel itself. There have been many cases where business travellers will fly into an exotic country and not really see the light of day outside of conference centers, heavy meetings and long presentations, by the time the conference or business summit is done, it’s time to fly out, not being able to see what great aspects that area has to offer. According to the GBTA, 39% of business travellers are looking to couple leisure experiences with business travel and have the company pay for it.

As you can see business travellers are looking for more personal experiences, something they can enjoy and not be stuck in a hotel somewhere outside of where they need to be. That’s why DelSuites makes a great solution for business travellers and travel programs. Our 30+ day short-term rentals, and fully furnished apartments in Toronto allow for flexibility, leisure, modern amenities and convenient locations to major shopping, business and travel hubs around the city. Making business travel easier and more enjoyable.
