DelSuites Turns 20 Years Old!

November 15, 2018

DelSuites Turns 20DelSuites Turns 20!

In October 2018, DelSuites turns 20 – reaching a milestone. Our company has been around for a full two decades. On the year DelSuites launched, Titanic was dominating at the Oscars, the first Apple iMac was released, the last episode of “Seinfeld” aired, and Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were still a thing.

Crazy, huh?

Looking back over the years, we are incredibly grateful for all of the wonderful guests and clients we have been able to work with. It’s a thrill DelSuites turns 20 and to be able to be part of the serviced apartment industry in Toronto and we’ve learned so much – so thank you.

DelSuites Turns 20

Oakwood Worldwide 2017 Partner Award

We’re also honoured by the awards that we have received over the last few years, including:

  • Oakwood Worldwide 2017 Partner Award – DelSuites had the highest guest satisfaction across their internal and client surveys. ‘DelSuites always works diligently to serve our guests and their Guest Services jumps on the service issues if they arise. They are all around great suppliers to work with’ – Oakwood Worldwide Employee.
  • TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence (5 years running!)
  • CHPA (Best Green Progress) 2017 – The Best Green Progress Award recognizes a company exemplifying environmental responsibility and social performance through policies, plans and activities.

During the last 20 years, we’ve grown to become the largest serviced housing provider in Toronto with over 450 suites throughout the Greater Toronto Area. We are part of the Tridel Group of Companies, Canada’s leader in condo living.

Not bad for a 20 year old!

What Will the Future Bring?

Like many 20 year olds out there, we feel like this is the beginning of our story and we are just getting started.
Here’s what you can expect from us at DelSuites in the future:

Support for Causes We Believe In

DelSuites Turns 20

Toronto Humane Society

From donating towels and linens to Anguilla to support hurricane relief efforts, to providing blankets and bed sheets for animals at the Toronto Humane Society, to donating linens and towels to a primary school in Jamaica, we have always made the effort to support causes that are close to our hearts. We will continue in the future, as this is really important to our company values.

Commitment to Sustainability

We will continue to care about the environment. In 2017, we combined offices with our sister company Del Condominium Rentals and underwent office renovations at Tridel’s Head Office – to ensure that our working environment is sustainable as possible. We cut down our paper consumption by 75%, switched to LED light bulbs, implemented Eco Pens and made many other tweaks to reduce our carbon footprint.

Improving Customer Satisfaction

Our customers are really important to us, so we are always working to improve our customer satisfaction. We do this in a number of ways, including our Preventative Maintenance program that inspects suites regularly to keep them in tip-top shape. We’ve also launched our Guest Appreciation Program, where we thank our guests with a thoughtful gift and let them know how much we appreciate their business.

Cheers to another 20 years!

DeSuites Turns 20We are always looking to the future and thinking about how we can be the best company we can be… so we are pretty excited to see what the future will bring! Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning, or we have just met… we send a sincere “Thank You” your way. We couldn’t do it without you!

Digital Nomads and Working Remotely

July 13, 2018

Digital NomadsCue the rise of digital nomads, a freelancer, employee or business owner who uses technology to be able to travel the world while getting work done. A digital nomad could have a number of careers, including freelance writer, translator, software designer, blogger, programmer, website builder, graphic designer – or perhaps a combination of these. They could also run their own business – there are a number of businesses that can be built online that do not require their owners to be based in any location.

When digital nomads book accommodation on their travels around the world, they are not looking for the same things that typical travellers seek. Vacationers look for comfort and entertainment – they are mostly concerned with the quality of the swimming pool and whether they can order a cocktail from their sunlounger. Digital nomads, although they will certainly have time to relax and enjoy while they are in a destination, may be more concerned about whether or not the WiFi will be fast.

Why Digital Nomads Love Furnished Apartments

When it comes down to it, one of the very best accommodation style for digital nomads are furnished Digital Nomadsapartments. Here’s why:

  • These apartments can be booked for a longer term stay, for a few months or longer. This works well for digital nomads, as they often tend to travel more slowly and stay in one place longer than those on vacation.
  • However, rather than typical apartments there is no need to sign a minimum 1 year lease having to make a big commitment – which is ideal for a nomadic lifestyle.
  • Furnished apartments often have a separate living space to the bedroom, so that digital nomads don’t have to try to be productive while sitting up in bed. Some furnished apartments even have a desk or workspace area!
  • The apartments are equipped with high speed internet, which is essential for getting work completed online.
  • The kitchen allows the digital nomad to cook for themselves, so that they don’t have to eat in a restaurant for every meal.
  • A well-located furnished apartment means that the digital nomad traveler will be in an advantageous location, close to lots of amenities and the top attractions in the destination as well.

Digital NomadsMost importantly, a furnished apartment feels more like home. It doesn’t have the impersonal feeling that a hotel room can have. This is important, because the digital nomad lifestyle isn’t the same as a travel lifestyle. It’s more like living on the road than traveling, so digital nomads tend to really appreciate the little things that make them feel comfortable and at home in their accommodations.

Tips for Summer Relocation

May 28, 2018

Summer RelocationSummer relocation has a lot of advantages. If you have children, it’s less disruptive than uprooting them in the middle of the school year. Plus, they have some time to make friends and get to know your new neighborhood before school begins in the fall. The weather will mean that you can get outside and explore your new area.

However, there are some challenges for summer relocation. Read on to see our simple tips.

Summer Relocation – Book in Advance

Relocation services are busy in the summertime, as this is the most popular time of year to move. The high demand might mean that it’s hard to book a moving company and that the price will be higher. It’s like trying to book a flight over Christmas or Thanksgiving!

However, you might save money if you book in advance. Also, try to move on a weekday or during the middle of the month, as these times are not as much in demand.

Get Up Early

On a hot summer day it’s a good idea to book your moving company to arrive as early in the morning as possible, when the temperature is still quite cool. It will be much more comfortable than trying to carry boxes and load up the truck in the heat of the afternoon.

Stay Hydrated

Speaking of carrying boxes and other strenuous activity in the summer heat, make sure that you stay hydrated! Keep aSummer Relocation bottle of water with you throughout the day. You can also invite the moving crew in for a cold glass of lemonade to give them a break!

Consider How the Heat Will Affect Your Belongings

Keep in mind that there are some things that should not be put in a moving van during the summer months. For example, if you pack your candles they might melt. Or, your electronics can overheat and become damaged. Aerosols should not be boxed up in the heat for long periods of time.

When you are packing items, think about how they will be affected by the heat. You might want to bring valuable or heat sensitive items to your new home separately.

Have a Yard Sale

Summer RelocationSummer is peak yard sale season, which is good news. Why? Because you can sell the items that you don’t need anymore and reduce the amount of items you have to move, making the relocation process easier for everyone. If you can advertise your yard sale well, you’ll be able to get rid of a lot of unnecessary items and make some money for the move as well.

These are just a few tips to keep in mind when moving during the summer months. It can be a stressful and complicated task, but it doesn’t have to be. Relocation to Canada has taken second place among global destinations preferred for employees moving abroad for work – here’s why.

Setting Sights for Canada Relocation

April 19, 2018

Canada RelocationAccording to an article from Canadian HR Reporter, Canada relocation has surpassed the UK and Australia to take second place among global destinations preferred for employees moving abroad for work.

The USA, our massive neighbour to the south, is firmly in the number one place. However, the poll released by the Canadian Employee Relocation Council, found Canada to be #2. The survey, known as the 2017 CERC Global Mobility Survey, received responses from 10,091 workers in 20 different countries.

Despite the long winters and icy temperatures, many workers from around the globe want to move to the land of maple syrup and poutine in order to work, live and raise their families in this peaceful, safe, democratic and welcoming environment.

Canada Relocation – A Safe and Pleasant Place to Live

It is thought that the increase in interest in Canada as a place to live comes as other more typical Canada Relocationemployee destinations experience unrest. When workers around the world turn on the television and see what is happening in the USA, it causes a lot of concern.

Also, Canada offers a lot of positive benefits – including health care and a safe environment. These attributes are luring workers to Canada from all over the world and are significant factors in Canada’s rise within the list of most desirable places to live.

Entering Canada Becoming Easier

Also, countries such as the USA, the UK and Australia are making more difficult for people to enter and work. Canada is currently opening up and going in the opposite direction, which makes it more appealing for Canada relocation.

According to an article from CBC News, relaxed rules for obtaining Canadian citizenship took effect late last year. The Minister of Refugees and Citizenship, Ahmed Hussen, announced that these changes will make joining the “Canadian family” more flexible.

Canada RelocationSome of the changes implemented include a reduction of the required duration for physical presence in Canada from 3 out of 5 years to 4 out of 6 years. Also, a portion of the time that has already been spent in Canada before achieving permanent resident status will now be allowed to count toward time for residency requirements.

(The changes were in response to a sharp drop in applicants after a significant fee increase three years ago. When the processing fee jumped from $100 to $530 in 2015, the number of applicants dropped nearly 50%.)

Canada has also been designing systems that are designed to lure skilled workers from around the world, such as the Express Entry System and the new Global Skills Strategy. These new changes are part of a larger overhaul of the Canadian Citizenship Act. Canada aims to be more open to migration and to serve as a beacon for top global talent.

The GBTA Conference will be held in Toronto in mid-April, showcasing companies from all across North America and the world. It will draw over 700 attendees and is one of the most anticipated events of the year in the North American business travel niche.

What is the GBTA Conference?

The GBTA Conference is hosted by the Global Business Travel Association, which is the world’s premier organization for business travel and corporate meetings. It is known for showcasing the cutting edge of global business travel and the GBTA Conference is the largest business travel event in Canada.

We are looking forward to this event, as it is a chance to learn from some of the brightest innovators in the business. There are many thought-provoking talks to look forward to, such as an executive talk with John Lee, the Managing Director of TMX Group on Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies. Also, there will be a fascinating Panel Discussion on the Momentum of Technology & Innovation in Business Travel.

The Team at DelSuites Look Forward to Attending

We are counting down the days until this conference begins. There’s always so much to learn from the other exhibitors and sponsors we meet at this event. Plus, the keynote speakers for this year look very intriguing and we look forward to learning from them.

One of the main goals that DelSuites has in attending this conference is to educate attendees on the value of corporate housing, compared to hotel stays. A furnished apartment is convenient, cost effective and flexible option, offering the comforts of home for business travelers and temporary residents. These high quality, centrally located apartments are the ideal option for employees who are relocating or business travelers on a temporary visit to the city.

During our time at this event, we will also expand relationships with customers, meet business travel decision makers in person, generate leads and use this excellent opportunity for some important networking. Also, we hope to take away some interesting insights from the many other talented and innovative leaders in the business travel industry whom we will meet during the conference.
