Himalayan Coffee House

Ever been to one of those fancy coffee houses where you can get handcrafted latte art alongside your light snack from the bakery? You can get that experience near midtown through this well-regarded coffee shop.

Take a look at Instagram and other social media channels to see some of the cute designs you might find when you visit.

Uncle Betty’s Diner

Craving for breakfast in the late afternoon? This diner offers all-day breakfasts along with other casual eats. The premium menu complements well with the relaxed, retro-styled interior.

Salads and sandwiches are a specialty here, but international visitors must try the local poutine on offer. Canada is well-known for its mastery of the dish.

The Captain’s Boil

This one is slightly farther away, but it’s well worth the walk for any seafood lover. Getting its name from Cajun seafood boils, this restaurant’s menu offers high-quality seafood combined with a rich blend of spices and seasonings for a truly unique taste you won’t find elsewhere. You can even customize the amount of heat, ranging from simple non-spicy to smoking hot fire.

But that doesn’t mean the place is too formal. In fact, it encourages interacting directly with the dish using your hands! Relax with family and friends here when you get the chance.

De Mello Coffee

While not an official restaurant, De Mello is a brand you won’t want to miss. This company is dedicated to responsible sourcing of house-roasted coffee beans. The nearby Metro grocery store has almost everything you could ever need for your kitchen, and you can get many other personal hygiene and beauty products from your local Shoppers Drug Mart.

In need of emergency office supplies or tech accessories? Canada Computers has you covered, with plenty of repair parts, extra cords, and other paraphernalia for when you need to take office work to your home. Best Buy and Staples are both here as well.

Education

In addition to the North Toronto Collegiate Institute, the Toronto Public Library has a branch next door. Finding a quick reference or book to read is easy and accessible this way.

There’s also the Hansa Language Centre for any international travelers looking to brush up their English skills. The location was founded as far back as 1969, so it has plenty of experience in this field. There are even online classes if you need them.

Other Amenities

In terms of local travel, you won’t be in need of a car thanks to the close proximity to amenities and stores. If you ever need to make your way downtown or elsewhere, the Eglinton TTC station has you covered. It’s only a few feet away.

On Sundays, the St. Monica’s Catholic Church is open nearby on 44 Broadway Avenue. Beautiful wood furniture and ceiling lights provide the perfect atmosphere for a Sunday service.

Hanging out on your balcony in your DelSuites furnished apartment rental in Toronto can be novel for only so long. Though it’s one of our favourite amenities, sometimes you want a change of scenery. As the summer heats up, here are our favourite patios in Toronto to grab a drink and people watch.

1. Amsterdam Brewhouse
Steps away from our downtown toronto apartments like 300 Front Street, The Icon, and The Element, Amsterdam Brewery’s patio is situated on the Harbourfront, lakeside, with a nice view of the Toronto Islands. Also named as one of our favourite craft breweries in Toronto, all you need to relax is a pint in hand in a muskoka chair to feel like you’re transported north of the city. Don’t forget you can buy some of their cans to bring home. Their bottleshop is open until 11pm!

2. El Catrin
The vibrant patio, located in the Distillery District, and its Mexican details –cut outs, tiles and firepits –makes this one of the most popular outdoor spots to have brunch or lunch in the summer months. The food is just as great as the location. Try sharing some tacos or ceviche. For dinner, you could try a 7 course tasting menu with your friends. The best part? Your fellow patio-patrons surrounding you are best for people watching. Reservations are strongly encouraged.

3. Terroni (Rosedale)
This rooftop patio of the popular Italian trattoria is a more low key destination and in short distance of our mid-town properties, 173 Duplex and the Republic. Chow down on hearty pasta and many delectable pizzas under minimalist decor and a great view of the downtown landscape.

4. Speakeasy 21
This Financial District favourite –at Scotiaplaza–has a brand new 3-tier patio for after work libation. You can watch all of the drama of rush hour unfold from your perch right in the centre of things. Knock it back with a watermelon mojito or bites to share with coworkers or friends.
