The Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association (OIAA) was founded in 1930 and is a growing non-profit association for insurance claims adjusting professionals in Ontario

Insurance adjusters across Ontario provide claims adjustment and risk management services to insurers and those who are insured, looking for a solution.

The OIAA recognizes the purpose of networking, advocacy and professionalism, so this year’s OIAA Conference follows that theme with “Come Back To Town”, encouraging those to get together again.

This year, they will showcase a variety of speakers and topics all related to the insurance adjuster field.

Some notable keynote topics highlighted at the 2022 OIAA Conference include:

  • AB Cases
  • Tort Updates
  • Product Liabilities

delsuites guest services

We’re finally coming to the end of the COVID-19 quarantine, and that means that public events, restaurants, theaters, and rental properties can safely open up again. There’s no better time to get that business trip you’ve been wanting to schedule for all this time.

Toronto is the perfect place to get started. You have a ton of lucrative opportunities in such an active and lively city. Restrictions have recently been lifted in the area, and many building amenities have opened up as well. Scheduling a rental doesn’t have to be a headache, so take the time to make your stay a comfortable one.

DelSuites has been serving the short-term rental market in Toronto and other surrounding areas. We have a dedicated Guest Services team designed specifically to make our properties aligned with the high standards of our guests.

Pre-Arrival Services

First impressions matter, so we always have a “Points of Perfection” inspection to make sure everything is working as intended before you reach the room. We offer pre-arrival packages for all our new stays as well that contains:

  • Directions to the property
  • Confirmations for your reservations
  • Any special requests you’ve made

Grocery Service

One of the first things you do in your new place is to purchase groceries. To take some manual work off your plate, let us bring them to you directly when you move in with our pre-arrival grocery service! The cost will be conveniently added to your standard invoice. Delivery will be coordinated with move-in and be added directly to the fridge so that foods remain fresh when they reach you.

DelSuites also strategically selects our locations so that you’re always near a grocery store, some of which may be open 24/7. Ask Guest Services for recommendations and directions.

Too busy or need to focus your time on other things than just groceries? No problem! Get in touch with us for easy shopping at your convenience. You can also use other popular grocery delivery services like Instacart or Gateway.

During Your Stay

We firmly believe that our job doesn’t end on the move-in day. Guest Services will continue to ensure everything runs smoothly for our guests. That’s why there’s a welcome message in the first few days to check on your satisfaction. Need anything specific or want an in-suite orientation? Just ask about our services (additional charges apply). Some of what we offer includes:

  • Housekeeping to keep the room in perfect shape every time you get home.
  • Airport transportation. Make travel easier both to and from the rental.
  • Family services. Bringing the kids? We have cribs, playpens, and other useful touches.

In fact, don’t be afraid to ask whenever you want, even after hours. Our On-Call Manager is available during fires, floods, lost keys, and other emergencies.

Health and Safety

We’re not quite out of the woods yet when it comes to COVID-19. We’re committed to the safety of our guests, no matter how big or small the risk is.

  • Extra linens and towels are available in your suite. You also have a washer and dryer to refresh them.
  • Isolated garbage disposal. Check your arrival package for information on how we dispose of trash with maximum sanitation precautions.
  • Virtual tours are offered as an alternative to a physical visit. Just ask our Sales Team by video chat or phone call.

Outdoor Activities You Can Enjoy in Toronto During the Pandemic

June 14, 2021
toronto outdoor activities

The problem we face is that the COVID pandemic has been going on for over a year, but we still need to travel or feel like we’re getting away from our routine, everyday lives. But there is a way to still do this: plan a getaway to Toronto.

Whether you go on a staycation or a business-related trip, you can enjoy the perfect stay in Toronto, taking advantage of countless options for COVID-friendly outdoor activities. Here are the ways you can enjoy the natural, beautiful side of Toronto, even during the lockdown.

1. Go on a Relaxing Stroll or a Hike

Want to escape from the business of life and immerse yourself in nature? There are numerous walking and hiking trails spread out all across Toronto, so there’s sure to be a trail to suit you. You could take an easy 20-minute stroll at the Glen Stewart Ravine (located just south of Kingston Road and north of Woodbine Beach) or challenge yourself with a 9-km hike on the Beltline Trail (located all across Eglinton West).

Looking to get close to the Beltline Trail? Then you’ll want to stay in the Republic as it’s only a short drive away. What about the Glen Stewart Ravine? We recommend either our James Cooper Mansion or Ten York locations.

Relieve your stress and relax in a peaceful, natural environment. Go to a trail in Toronto to experience its beautiful landscape, such as its lush forests and tranquil rivers.

2. Take a Trip to the Beach

Even though many recreational attractions are closed, Toronto’s beaches are still open. And they can help you take some time to unwind and get outside in the summer.

Take a refreshing swim at one of Toronto’s swimming beaches, like Cherry Beach, build sandcastles with your family, or enjoy a picnic in the sun. You could even simply walk along the beach while taking in the sights.

Want to soak up some sun or lounge on a beach seat under the shade of an umbrella? With its visually pleasing pink umbrellas and white sand, Sugar Beach is just the right place. It’s also a popular site to visit in the winter when it’s topped with soft white snow.

3. Visit Nature Parks

During the pandemic, everyone is spending a lot more time indoors than they’re used to. If you’re missing being outside and want to get some fresh air at a park, Toronto has a lot to choose from.

At a park, you could spend some time outdoors with your family or see your friends in person while socially distancing. Have a picnic, walk through gardens, or go on short trails.

High Park is a popular choice that offers a wide variety of activities, including a small zoo. It’s also famous for being a park where you view the cherry blossoms in bloom in the summer.

4. Walk Through a Public Garden

Toronto’s outdoor public gardens, such as community and allotment gardens, are also open.

Stroll through them while admiring trees and attractively arranged flower beds. Take pictures in beautiful settings, such as the small bridges in Edwards Gardens. And take a moment to pause and sit on a bench while admiring your surroundings in the Toronto Music Garden

Stop and smell the flowers during your business retreat or vacation from work.

5. Take Advantage of Outdoor Recreational Amenities

Although COVID restrictions are constantly evolving, certain recreational amenities, including playgrounds and dog off-leash areas, are currently open. Take advantage of the opportunity to get outside and use these amenities.

Taking your kids to the playground can also help them get moving and be active instead of being cooped up at home.

If you go to High Park, you could take your kids to Toronto’s largest playground, the Jamie Bell Adventure Playground, or give your dogs a feeling of freedom at the High Park Dog Off-Leash Area

Moving During COVID Times: What You Need to Know

March 22, 2021
short-term rental moving day

The world has changed in numerous ways over the last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many people have put much of their lives on hold, working from home or being unable to work at all.

That said, there still are many reasons why you might need to move at this time, despite (or even because of) the pandemic. Since this time is so unprecedented, many questions come up when planning a move.

DelSuites is here to answer them all and help make this process as smooth as possible for you.

Moving Right Now

The first question is probably, “Can I even move at this time?” The simple answer is yes. There are apartment buildings that are limiting or not allowing the move-in/move-out process currently so the best option is to contact everyone directly to verify. Also, something might come up that would require you to delay or cancel a move.

Most businesses have new guidelines with more flexibility than usual for these situations. All DelSuites buildings are allowing people to move-in or move-out, with rules and restrictions in place to keep everybody as safe as possible.

Touring a New Place

While touring your potential new home is still available, it is discouraged so you can adhere to social distancing protocols. Luckily, DelSuites includes as many photos as possible on our website and has virtual tours and video links offered as an alternate solution to tours. Also, tours by video call are available as another safe option to view a place while keeping everybody healthy.

Purchasing Moving Supplies

Both packing supply stores and big box stores are considered essential and are still opened at this time. You should be able to purchase anything you need at one of these. If you want to keep even safer and order online, please keep in mind that there have been shipping delays during this time. Make sure to give yourself enough time for any packages to arrive.

Staying Safe While Traveling

At a personal level, you can stay safe while traveling by keeping socially distanced from others as much as possible, always wearing your mask, and washing your hands thoroughly as often as possible. If you are traveling by air or rail, follow all rules and recommendations provided by the company providing the service. And before anything, be sure to check the Public Health Agency of Canada’s latest updates about everything COVID-19.

Traveling Between Provinces

Canada currently does not have any federal restrictions on traveling between provinces. There may be provincial or territorial rules and restrictions in place for where you are moving to so it is best to check government websites for the most current rules. If you’re moving to Ontario from another province, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health strongly advises that you self-isolate for 14 days after arriving.

Staying Clean While Moving In

As long as you follow all guidelines recommended by the Public Health Agency of Canada and verify that the businesses you’re dealing with are doing the same, everybody should be kept clean and safe during this process. If you’re moving into a DelSuites location, we offer numerous pre-arrival and quarantine assistance:

  • Extra bed linens and towels
  • Easy Self-Service Grocery
  • Safe Delivery and Garbage Disposal procedures
  • COVID-19 Information Resources

Staying Safe Once Moved In

After arriving, it is necessary to continue to follow protocols to stay safe. As an active member of its communities, DelSuites does adhere to the safety protocols of each building. Listed below are some expected safety protocols:

  • Sanitizer stations are prominently placed throughout all buildings.
  • Mask wearing in common areas and maintaining a distance of 2m is required in all buildings.
  • Elevator spacing guidelines and a maximum of 2 people per household in all elevators.
  • Maximum capacity has been revised and new restrictions for safe use in fitness centers, swimming pools, and other amenities.
  • Closures of some common areas or recreational amenities are possible as decided by the Property Management/Condominium Board.

If you prefer downtown, Midtown, or a surrounding neighbourhood, DelSuites has the perfect short term rental for you.

Downtown Toronto

Our downtown suites are in the heart of the business, entertainment, and financial districts. And downtown has so much to offer: world-class galleries, museums, music, ballet, theaters, hotels, restaurants, and hospitals. Between the countless restaurants and cafes and all the beautiful parks, this district always has something close to home for you to explore. Nearby is Yorkville, with its Victorian homes and the finest dining options in the city, as well as luxury apartment buildings for your next home.

Markham and Scarborough

On the east side of Toronto are the areas of Markham and Scarborough, offering quick and easy access to Toronto while providing neighbourhoods that are more laid back and family-friendly. Markham also has a variety of entertainment and shopping options. Although Scarborough can seem far from the city, with its green corridor along the Rouge River Valley, the area is well-connected by Highway 401 and the subway lines on Eglinton and Sheppard Avenues.

North York

Considered one of the most affluent neighbourhoods in Toronto, North York also contains numerous shopping options and the Toronto Centre for the Arts. Whether you want to live in a neighborhood along the Don River or within the North York City Centre, we have furnished, short-term rentals that are second-to-none. With numerous subway lines connecting to downtown, the rentals here benefit from proximity to both locations.

Nearby you’ll also find golf courses, several parks along the lakefront, and the large Centennial Park with its endless activities.

Surrounding Regional Municipalities

The regional municipalities of Durham, Halton, Peel, and York, are considered part of the Greater Toronto Area and within each municipality, you will find numerous cities and neighbourhoods with vastly different lifestyles. Don’t worry, DelSuites has you covered in these cities as well!

Within the regional municipality of Peel, you’ll find Mississauga, the sixth-largest city in Canada. For those wanting to be near the arts and shopping districts of Mississauga, our furnished rentals are a perfect choice. They offer everything you need, being near both the Living Arts Centre and Square One Shopping, the largest shopping centre in eastern Canada.
