“Spirit of Partnership” Awarded from Oakwood Worldwide

DelSuites is proud to announce that it has been recognized by Oakwood Worldwide and has been granted the Spirit of Partnership Award. This prestigious award was announced during the Corporate Housing Providers Association annual conference.

Oakwood Worldwide is the global leader in the field of serviced apartments and corporate housing and it recognizes the best supply chain partners from North America at the annual Corporate Housing Providers Association conference. Other awards were given out during the conference for other achievements in the industry, such as highest service level, highest volume and more. This conference is one of the most important events in the corporate housing industry.

The Spirit of Partnership Award

This award is not for the accommodation with the most room nights or the best customer scores, but for the company that will go above and beyond to help Oakwood in any way possible. The Spirit of Partnership award celebrates companies that are involved in the community around them and are actively working to make it a better place.

This award is a direct reflection of the positive attitude and excellent customer service approach that DelSuites has. In everything that they do, DelSuites goes further and strives to be involved in the community in positive ways. It is an honour to receive this award, as it highlights the dedication DelSuites has to improving the world around them.

A Commitment to the Community

DelSuites recently visited the Toronto Humane Society and donated five bags of gently used towels to this organization. The Humane Society cares for the health of stray animals and provides them with shelter, medical care and spay and neutering services.

The organization is run by volunteers who work to match the animals with their new homes, socialize them, groom them, walk them, play with them and feed them. By getting involved with the Toronto Humane Society and donating these used towels, DelSuites is contributing to a healthier and happier community. Working together with the Toronto Humane Society is just one of the ways that DelSuites contributes to improving the city and the lives of animals and people in the community.

When the month of June comes around in Toronto, the weather starts to get sunny and warm and the city comes alive with many great events and festivals. There are Toronto June events held all over, offering many opportunities to have a great time in the sunshine. Here are some of the exciting events that you can look forward to in Toronto:

Toronto Pride

June 24^th – July 3^rd, 2016

Pride Week takes place in Toronto toward the end of June every year and is a vibrant and colourful celebration of the LGBT community. The Pride festival includes a lot of exciting events, including musical performances, dance parties and a huge parade that travels down Yonge Street, Gerrard Street and Bloor Street. It’s a wonderful opportunity to let loose, dance and have fun and everyone is welcome.

Luminato

June 10 – 26th, 2016

Luminato is an arts and culture festival that includes theatre, film, dance, music, art and literary events featuring artists, filmmakers and playwrights from all over the world. The 17 day event includes a number of performances throughout the city and this year 1000 performers will be taking part. David Pecaut Square is the hub of the festival and will host free concerts every night.

Taste of Little Italy

June 17th – 19^th, 2016

The Taste of Little Italy Festival takes over College Street, making you feel like you have been transported to Europe and are strolling through an Italian piazza. You’ll have the opportunity to taste some delicious Italian treats, including mouth-watering pizza, pasta, gelato, coffees and more. There will be more than 20 international live music performers as well as crafts for sale by local artisans.

Toronto Jazz Festival

June 24^th – July 3^rd, 2016

If you love jazz music, check out this chilled out music festival featuring an incredible array of talented performers. Some of the amazing artists that will be featured this year include Grace Potter, Wynton Marsalis, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Sarah McLachlan, Gregory Porter and the Chick Corea Trio. The Toronto Jazz Festival will be celebrating its 30^th anniversary and is one of the premier jazz festivals in North America. The heart of the festival will be in Nathan Philips Square in downtown Toronto, where you will find a massive 1,200 outdoor stage and many exciting free events.

Giving back to the Toronto Humane Society

Delsuites cares about the local community and makes an effort to contribute and make the world a better place. That’s why they recently got involved with the Toronto Humane Society and donated five bags of gently used towels.

During a recent visit at the shelter, Lauren and Suelyn were able to take a tour inside the Toronto Humane Society and visit with all the animals that are currently in their care. They met with a wide range of animals that are up for adoption. They also got to meet animals who had recently undergone surgery and learned a little bit about the history of the organization.

The Importance of Donations and Volunteers

The Toronto Humane Society is a non-government funded charity organization that relies on donations of any sort; whether that means supplies from pet stores, food donations or monetary donations from a wide range of sources. You can also become a monthly donor at the Toronto Humane Society and provide the animals with the daily support they need for as little as 60 cents per day. Also, they wouldn’t be able to operate without the help of over 500 volunteers who help at the society on a yearly basis.

These volunteers have a number of very important roles involved with keeping the centre running and taking care of the animals. Their daily roles include walking dogs, socializing the animals, providing them with care and grooming. They will bottle feed kittens, cuddle with puppies and socialize other small species including: mice, guinea pigs, rabbits and hamsters.

The Toronto Humane Society also provides public spay and neuter services for cats and dogs in order to reduce the number of kittens and puppies that enter the shelter every year.

A Positive Impact on the Community

The services that the Toronto Humane Society offers benefit the community in a lot of positive ways, which is why Delsuites is thrilled to donate and support what they do. First and foremost, they change the lives of dogs and cats who may otherwise be injured or living on the streets. Also, by offering free & low-cost spaying and neutering services they reduce the number of stray animals that wind up on the streets.

The medical and behavioural programs the Toronto Humane Society offers sets up the animals to lead a happy and healthy life in their new homes and give them the best opportunity to thrive. The society focuses on prevention and education and it takes a leadership role with partnering shelters. The educational programs that it offers empower people to take care of their animals.

Getting around by Toronto Public Transport

If you are visiting Toronto without a car – don’t worry. As one of Canada’s major population hubs it has one of the best Toronto public transport systems in the country. It’s quite easy to get from point A to point B while you are exploring Toronto, so that you can make the most of your time in the city.

Toronto’s public transport system is known as the TTC and it consists of a network of subway lines, streetcars, buses and rapid transit lines in a network across the city. Of course, if you have never been to this city before it might take you a while to get used to Toronto public transport. Here are some important things that you should know when making your way around Toronto:

Paying Your Fare

In Toronto you can buy a token or a ticket for the TTC at most convenience stores and subway stations. You will need to buy tickets and tokens before you board. If you are boarding the subway for example, use the turnstile near the station agent window and drop your ticket or your exact change into the clear receptacle.

Getting a Transfer

It is possible to get a transfer, which you can use for another leg of the journey. Ask for your transfer when you pay your fare on the bus or the streetcar. Alternatively, you can get one from the machine that is located just past the turnstile in the subway. Make sure that you give the transfer to the driver or the station agent on the next leg of your journey.

You Might be Better Off With a TTC Day Pass

If you think that you will use the public transport system more than once for a day of exploring all over the city, a TTC Day Pass might work out to be a better deal. The pass costs $12 and it offers you unlimited travel for a full day.

If you are planning on spending the day traveling all over the city of Toronto and visiting several different locations this might be the best deal for you. Usually it pays by itself by the 4^th trip. You cannot buy the pass from the bus driver, you will need to purchase it in advance from a convenience store or subway station booth agent.

What About Outside of the City Centre?

If you want to travel anywhere in the outlying areas of Greater Toronto, you will need to travel on Go Transit. The GO trains and buses depart from Union Station in downtown Toronto at several times throughout the day, so check to see which one goes to your destination. You will need to pay a separate fare for the Go trains and buses, they are not covered by your TTC tickets or passes.
